JV Softball  Marlborough 12 Westboro 0

 

Emily Woodworth pitched an outstanding game against Westboro on Monday, May 20th leading the Panthers to a 12-0 victory.  Emily had 12 total strike outs in 5 innings pitched.  Marlborough scored their first run on an RBI double by Alyssa Marrero to score Emily McIntyre.  Both Emily McIntrye and Kelsie Heinecke had 3 base hits in the game.  Jesse Crete had two singles and a double.   Also having base hits for the Panthers were Mikayla Teabo, Alissa Butt, Ary Kubiak and Emily Woodworth

5/19/2013 GIRLS VARSITY LAX
On May 17 the girls lacrosse team was defeated by Milford High School by the score of 15-13.Mackenzie Little notched 5 goals. Other scorers were Kendra Harrington(3), Laura Bailey(2), Nikki Carter(2) and Alexa Galliac.

JV Softball  Marlborough  5  Wachusett  2
The jv softball team beat the Wachusett team 5-2 on Friday, May 17th.  The Panthers were off to a slow start, with Wachusett taking an early lead for the first four innings of the game.  The Marlborough bats finally came alive in the fifth and sixth innings to score 5 total runs.  Getting base hits for Marlborough were Alyssa Marrero, Jesse Crete and Alissa Butt.  Emily McIntyre had 2 base hits and Mikayla Teabo had 3 base hits in the game.  Kelsie Heinecke not only had a base hit, but also had a triple to score 2 runs in the sixth.  Making great catches on the field were Cora Zach, Alyssa Marrero, Kelsie Heinecke, Alissa Butt, Emily Woodworth and Corinne Kelley.  Emily Woodworth pitched a strong game with 11 total strike outs.

JV Softball  Marlborough 2  Leominster 12

The girls jv softball team lost a tough game against Leominster on Thursday, May 16th.  Marlborough scored both runs in the fifth inning as Mickayla Teabo hit a triple with 2 RBIs.  Marlborough had some quality at bats by Alissa Butt, Jesse Crete, Cora Zach, Alyssa Marrero, Emily Woodworth and Emily McIntyre, but were unable to score any more runs.  Kelsie Heinecke also had a triple during the game.

5/17/2013 GIRLS VARSITY LAX
On May 16 the Girls lacrosse team lost to Bromfield 17-13. Mackenzie Little led the scorers with 7 goals. Nicole Archibald(3), Laura Bailey(2), and Kendra Harrington also scored for the Panthers.
5/16/2013 GIRLS TRACK 
The Marlboro Girls Track team finished third with 99 points, narrowly missing second place, in the Mid-Wach B League Championship meet. Points are awarded for the top 6 finishers. Nashoba finished first and Hudson second in the six team event.
 
Anna McCabe and Haley Wicks each placed in four events.  McCabe won the Triple Jump and Wicks won the High Jump.  McCabe also placed second in the 200, while Wicks was second in the Long Jump. Other second place finishers were Alex Grimaldo (Mile), Justine Butler (Javelin), Jillian Caiazzi (800), Michelle Gordon (400 Hurdles), and the 4x100 Relay Team (Cassidy Grace, Wicks, Butler, McCabe). Grace also placed third in the 100 hurdles, while Grimaldo also placed fifth in the 800. Other scorers for Marlboro included Colleen Condry, Paige Shepard, Dominica Chude, Madyson Plante, Shannon Coughlin, Krissy Fantasia, Bailey MacDougall, and Kim Dickson.
5/15/2013 GIRLS VARSITY LAX
On May 15 the girls lacrosse team dropped a 7-5 decision to Hudson. Mackenzie Little had 3 goals for MHS while Alexa Galliac and Kendra Harrington had one a piece.
5/15/2013 BOYS VARSITY BASEBALL
The Marlborough High School Varsity Baseball Team Beat Shrewsbury Monday in 8 inning 2-0.  Mark Ney pitched all 8 innings striking out eight and limiting Shrewsbury to only 1 hit in the 8th inning.  Marlborough won the game in the 8th inning when Mark Ney singled down the right field line scoring Matt Buroni and Joe Lesser.  Chris Coppola went 2-4 with a double. Matt Thall and Mike Yates each made inning saving defensive plays in the outfield, while John Rumney played a great game at shortstop.  Marlborough's record now is 7 wins and 6 loses.  They play Leominster away Tuesday
5/15/2013 BOYS VARSITY BASEBALL 

The Marlborough High School Varsity Baseball Team improved its record yesterday to 8 wins and 6 loses beating Leominster 9-1.  Mike Yates pitched 7 innings holding Leominster to 4 hits and just 1 run.  John Rumney had 3 hits, while Matt Buroni, Mike Bjorkman, Mike Yates and Mark Ney all had two hits a piece. 

5/15/2013 GIRLS VARSITY LAX
On May 14 the Girls lacrosse team defeated Grafton 8-7. Nikki Carter had two goals including the game winner with 2:07 left in the game. Other goal scorers included Kendra Harrington(2), Alexa Galliac(2), Rachel Mager, and Mackenzie Little. Laura Syers was awesome in goal with 15 saves.
5/14/2013 

JV Softball   Marlborough 1  Shrewsbury 6

Despite a quality team effort, the Panthers lost the second game of their series against Shrewsbury, 6-1.   Emily Woodworth pitched a great game, remaining on the mound after being hit in the leg by a Shrewsbury batter in the second inning.  Julia Marshall drove home the one Marlborough run on a triple in the fourth inning. Alissa Butt sacrificed on a well-placed bunt, moving runners on first and second to second and third, but unfortunately the runners were unable to score.  On the defensive side, making nice catches in the field were Shuana Butler and Cora Zach.

Marlborough 0        Wachusett   3
The Marlborough Panters played tough but lost to the Mountaineers from Wachusett 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-17) The Panthers were led by Senior Captains Chris Syers and Jon Van Lingen. Marlborough is now 8-6 and will pay the Warriors from Wayland on Monday.

5/13/2013 JV SOFTBALL

JV Softball- Marlborough 16  Algonquin 6
Emily Woodworth pitched a great game to beat Algonquin at home on Friday, May 10th. The Panthers were off to a slow start offensively, but came alive during a 9 run 5th inning.  The offensive run was led by Shauna Butler who hit a 3-run homerun during the inning.  Hitting doubles for the Panthers were Jesse Crete, Alissa Butt, Alyssa Marrero, and Ary Kubiak.  Alyssa Marrero also had 5 RBIs in the game.

5/13/2013 GIRLS TRACK
The Marlboro Girls Track team had a strong performance (43 points) in the District E Class Track Meet at Lunenburg H.S. on Saturday, placing 5th overall out of the 18 largest schools in Central MA.  Anna McCabe placed second in the 200 (27.19) and third in the Triple Jump (33' 7").   Justine Butler was second in the Javelin (103’). Cassidy Grace placed third in the 100 Hurdles (16.91), as did Alex Grimaldo in the Mile (5:37). Other scorers for Marlboro included Paige Shepard (5th - Discus) and Jillian Caiazzi (6th - 800). The Lady Panthers also placed in two relays; 4th in the 4x100 (Grace, Iliana Weeks, Butler, and McCabe) and 5th in the 4x800 (Grimaldo, Shannon Coughlin, Annika Lambert, and Caiazzi).  Krissy Fantasia and Dominica Chude also performed well in the 2 Mile and the Shot Put.
5/10/2013 Girls Varsity LACROSSE
On May 9 the Marlboro Girls Lacrosse team dropped a 9-5 decision to Oakmont.
Goal scorers for the Panthers were Mackenzie Little (2), Kendra Harrington, Laura Bailey and Alexa Galliac.
5/10/2013 GIRLS TRACK- 
For the third time this season, a Marlboro Girls Track meet came down to the final event, the 4x400 relay. This time the Panthers were not able to pull out a victory and lost an exciting and competitive meet to Hudson by the score of 76 – 69. Anna McCabe placed in four events, winning the 200 and Triple Jump. Haley Wicks also placed in four events, winning the High Jump. Jillian Caiazzi won the 2 Mile and placed second in the 400, Justine Butler won the Javelin, and Paige Shepard won the Discus. Madyson Plante placed in three events including seconds in the High Jump and Shot Put. Other second place finishers included Cassidy Grace (100 Hurdles), Alex Grimaldo (1 Mile), Michelle Gordon (400 Hurdles), and Colleen Condry (Pole Vault). Krissy Fantasia and Iliana Weeks also scored for the Panthers.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Marlborough 3           Clinton   0

 

The Marlborough boys' volleyball team got back on track by defeating Clinton yesterday 3-0 in a close match. (27-25, 26-24, and 25-18)  The Panthers were led by seniors Colin Davis, Artur Vieira, Andrew Luce, and Joe Babcock.  Captain Jon Van Lingen had 7 kills and 4 aces and sophomore Devin Clemons has 6 kills and 7 blocks in the victory. The Panthers are now 8-5 and will play Wachusett at home on Friday.

 BOYS JV VOLLEYBALL

The JV boys volleyball team lost to Millis Tuesday night 2-0 despite having won their first encounter earlier in the season.  Despite a strong offensive attack from Junior Captain, Brian Chisolm, the panthers were not able to hod of the consistent play of an improved Millis team.
5/8/2013  Girls Varsity Lacrosse  
On Tuesday May 7 the MHS girls lacrosse team traveled to Leominster and came away with  a 14-13 victory. Sarah Hanahan scored the game winner on a beautiful pass from Rachel Mager with 31 seconds remaining in the game. Kendra Harrington was the leading scorer with 7 goals. Mackenzie Little added four goals and Nikki Carter chipped in with 2 goals.
5/8/2013 BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Marlborough 0        Millis  3

 

The much improved Millis Mohawks beat the Marlborough boys' volleyball team 3-0. 25-16 25-17 25-16. Sophomore Jon Maciel had 8 kills,  senior Chris Syers had 5 kills, and Andrew Luce had a great game in the back row but it wasn't enough to beat Millis.  The Panthers are now 6-5 and they will face Clinton today and try to beat the team that they lost to earlier this season.

5/7/2013 Boys Volleyball 

Marlborough 3   Fitchburg   1

 The Marlborough Boys' Volleyball team continued with their winning ways by defeating the Red Raiders of Fitchburg 3-1 in an exciting match. 25-11,25-10,25-23,25-18. Jon Van Lingen had 4 blocks and 7 kills and Jon Marciel had 4 blocks and 6 kills for the Panthers. The Panthers are now 7-4 and will travel to Millis tonight to take on the Mohawks.

5/6/2013 Boys Baseball
The Marlborough High School Varsity Baseball Team improved its record to 6-5 yesterday beating Westborough 10-1 in a Mid-Wach A game yesterday.  Mike Yates was the starting pitcher, pitching 5 innings.  Kevin Scerra and Mark Ney came in to finish the 6th and 7th innings.  Mike Yates and Matt Thall both had home runs for the Panthers.  John Rumney, Joe Lesser, Matt Buroni, Matt Thall, Mike Yates, Mike Bjorkman and Cam Perry all had multiple hits.

The Marlborough Boys' Volleyball team improved to 6-4 last night by defeating the Tomahawks of Algonquin 3-0. (25-23) (25-12), and (25-11). Captain Jon Van Lingen led the Panthers with 4 aces and 5 kills.  Senior Chris Syers had 4 blocks and 2 digs and sophomore Devin Clemons had 4 kills.  The Panthers will play Fitchburg on Monday. 
5/3/2013 JV GIRLS LACROSSE-

If you grew up in Marlborough then you would know that there is nothing better than beating Hudson.  The girl’s JV lacrosse team did just that.  It was a nail biter, but in the end the girls won by a score of 8-6.  Both goalies Olivia Servaes and Meghan McDonough had tremendous games turning away numerous shots.  Abby Christafideis led the scoring with a hat trick.  Ashley and Katie Desko each  got a pair of goals and Shayla Terrasi had one.  Kerri Leonard had a terrific game on the attack end of the field.  Nicole Coulombe had a superb game on defense keeping us on the winning side of the score board.  Rookies Ali Zouharis and Fatima Awada really stepped it up with their defensive games.  We look forward to playing Hudson again on May 8.

5/3/2013 GIRLS TRACK
The Marlboro Girls Track team lost a competitive meet to Westboro by a score of 82 – 63, evening their record at 2-2. Marlboro placed first in 8 of the 15 individual events and split the two relays, but could not match the depth of Westboro. Anna McCabe won three events (100, 200, Triple Jump) and Haley Wicks won two (Long Jump, High Jump). Alex Grimaldo (800), Michelle Gordon (400 Hurdles), and Justine Butler (Javelin) were the other event winners. Paige Shepard qualified for districts/states with her second place discus throw. Cassidy Grace, Dominica Chude, Krissy Fantasia, and Iliana Weeks also scored for the Panthers.
5/2/2013 Girls Varsity Lacrosse 
The Marlboro girls lacrosse team dropped a 7-6 decision to the Hudson Hawks on Thursday May 2. Goal scorers for MHS were Kendra Harrington(2), Laura Bailey, Nicole Archibald, and Rebecca Boyington.
5/2/2013 BOYS FRESHMAN BASEBALL 

Panthers beat Nashoba 5-3. It was a team effort highlighted by starting pitcher Mike Gould getting the win and web gem by Matt Bertochi.

 

The panthers also beat Leominster 10-3. Key victory for the freshman Panthers Highlighted by a 6 run 6th inning. Kevin Falvey gets the victory. Catcher Cam Plank provided big hits at the plate.
