The Marlborough Girls' JV Volleyball team lost to the Chiftains from Nashoba a close match yesterday in Bolton. (25-21, 25-21) Marlborough was down 7-0 in the first game but came back to make it a close game. Sophomore Amanda Curran had 7 Aces and 3 kills for the Lady Panthers. Junior Arianna Kubiak had 5 assists and 2 aces in the loss. The team will travel to Shrewsbury on Monday to take on the Colonials.

Marlborough Field Hockey won at Doherty yesterday 3-0. The Panthers were lead by Victoria Petrie who had a hat trick. Great defense was played by Megan Mayfield and Alanna Basquit. Meghan McDonough had one save. Panthers record is now 4-2 overall and 2-0 in the league. They play Friday at home vs. Fitchburg at 4:00.

It was a large margin victory against a very inexperienced Fitchburg team. Everyone played well as a team and it was business as usual. Increased confidence will keep our winning ways intact.

Marlborough Girls XC won their league opener against No. Middlesex High Tuesday by a score of 24 to 31. The Lady Panthers were led by Capt. Jillian Caiazzi in first place with a time of 22:29 over the 5k NM course. Erin Giugno was second in 22:53. Emily Dickson placed fifth in her strongest effort so far in a time of 24:24 followed by freshman Amanda Vilensky, sixth, in 24:33. Rounding out the Marlborough finishers were Meaghan McCabe in 10th, Shannon Rozzelli 12th, Elizabeth Smith 12th, Anna Read 14th, Ruth Schade 15th, Gaby Alonzi 16th, Madison Hediger 17th, and Barbara Carlone 18th. Marlborough's next meet is the Ghiloni Cup at Ghilone Park vs. Assabet Valley and AMSA. Our record is 1-1 overall, 1-0 in Mid-Wach B.
|9/17/2014 ||BOYS XC The Boys Cross country team lost their season opener to North Middlesex by a score of 22-35. After surrendering the first four places the Panthers were able to put the next eleven finishers across the finish before N. Middlesex’s fifth, but it was not enough. Marlborough was led by junior, Zack Schwartz, who covered the 3.05 mile course in 18:32. Senior Captain Austin Turner and Freshman Brian Oram crossed the finish together in 18:57. The course was flat but tricky. The weather was perfect for racing…cloudy and 60 degrees. Spencer Geary, Evan Dundon, Mark Tawadrous and Captain Peter DiPersio completed the Panther top seven. The next meet for the Marlborough harriers will be Friday, September 19 at Ghiloni Park in the sixth annual Ghiloni Cup against AMSA and Assabet high schools. |

Tough one today for the Panthers. Went down 11-7 after the first two pairings came in. The rest of the team were grinders and almost made the comeback. After Chris Povall (40) and Mike Sullivan (39) finished 9, they managed to bring the team to be down by one point. 17 1/2 to 18 1/2 coming into the final pairings but Westboro held on to the lead and took 10 1/2 points to finish and won the match 29-25.

Marlborough Field Hockey beat Westborough 2-0 on Friday at Westborough. Victoria Petrie scored in the first half to put the Panthers up 1-0. Mariah Berry sealed the game with a goal off a corner to make it 2-0 in the second half. Field Hockey is now 2-2 overall and 1-0 in their league. Next game is today at home vs. Groton Dunstable.

The Freshman Volleyball team began their season with a 2-1 victory over Groton-Dunstable. Sharon Fernandes had 11 serves on the day, 5 of which were aces. Kendra O’Reilly and Kaley Davis led the offense at the net. Jullya Farias Motta played well defensively.
The Panthers improved their record to 2-0 with a 2-1 win over Hudson. After losing the first game, the squad came back with strong serves from Cambrie Badavas, Leticia Farias, and Bianca Weber to win the next two games. Kendra O’Reilly and Kaley Davis continued to play strong at the net. Erin Doherty and Jullya Farias Motta kept the Panthers in the games with their strong passing.

The Marlborough Gilrs' Volleyball team opened their season last night in Millis with a 3-0 victory. (25-12, 25-22, 15-12) The Panthers were lead by Captain Ava Issacson with 5 Aces and 2 kills. Sophomores Abby Skarin and Alexandra Ren played exceptionally well for the Panthers. Cassandra Pierre had 5 assists in the season opener. Marlborough will play Clinton on Wednesday in the home opener.

Panther's freshman girls soccer pounced on a season opening win vs Westboro Rangers coming away with a 4 - 1 win!
8th graders Carrie Sibole and Maddi Farrell took command with Sibole scoring a hat trick including a brilliant pivot turn and header. Farrell dominated the field for 80 minutes creating many offensive chances for her team and recording an assist. 9th grader Cassandra Arsenault buried a shot past the Keeper to further frustrate the Rangers. 8th grade defenders Noelle Bass and Morgan Raun stayed tough on defense denying the Hawks any solid scoring opportunities. The girls play Wachusett on Monday

The Marlborough JV girls' volleyball team lost a tough match to Groton Dunstable 2-1. (25-20, 27-29, 11-25.) The Panthers were lead by sophomores Cassandra Peirre and Jenny Sousa. Captain Ava Isaacson had 4 aces and freshman Emily Lucas had 3 kills in the loss. The team will play on Hudson on Monday.
